Utah Heritage Foundation hosts its seventh annual Preservation Conference, on May 9-11, 2013. We are changing several aspects of the Conference this year, and we hope to keep you updated on this page as we confirm additional details. Come to a new Heritage Awards Dinner, additional homes to tour in the Avenues, and M. Wayne Donaldson, chair of the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation and recently-retired California state historic preservation officer, giving our keynote address.

We are excited to announce that we will be combining our annual fundraising dinner with our Heritage Awards Ceremony for 2013. The evening will include dinner, silent auction, and presentation to this yearâ€™s Heritage Award winners. These awards are given only to building owners, companies and individuals who have shown the highest standard of preservation in their projects. If you havenâ€™t been to the ceremony before, itâ€™s a wonderful show that will leave you feeling inspired and motivated by the display of commitment.
The Heritage Awards Ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2013, at The Leonardo, a 2012 Heritage Award winner.
Spring into the day's activities with an informal breakfast and lively roundtable discussion with your colleagues from around the state. This is an opportunity to share your successful projects and get advice about tough issues from CLG representatives, preservation commissioners, planners, and others. All attendees are welcome.
Our Education Sessions cover a variety of topics from preservation experts in our community. Whether you need basic preservation training, ideas on how to fix your historic windows, or network with other communities about what has worked, our sessions are for you! Sessions are held May 10, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Salt Lake Masonic Temple at 650 East South Temple in Salt Lake City. Following the sessions, attendees are invited to tour the Ladies Literary Club building down the street. Read on for more information.
The field of historic preservation has made tremendous strides in the last ten years. But with an ever-changing matrix of politics, economy, environment, and public support, what will be the top issues facing the American preservation movement over the next ten years? M. Wayne Donaldson, FAIA, will draw on his experience to highlight what he believes are both challenges and opportunities, with particular attention to livable communities, sustainability, and resiliency. As the current chair of the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation and former California State Historic Preservation Officer, he will look ahead at the role of the council in coordinating reviews done under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. Utah Heritage Foundation will hold its annual Historic Homes Tour on Saturday, May 11, 2013, from 10 AM to 5 PM, in the south east area of Salt Lake City's Avenues Historic District. Tickets are available now! Read more for more details on the tour and how to buy tickets.

Avenues After Hours offers a selected group of homes to tour with your friends on the evening of May 11. In addition to the opportunity to get inside historic Avenues' homes you will be invited in to enjoy catered food and drinks with your friends. A rare opportunity to have a tour and appetizers in some of the Lower Avenues most iconic home. Unlike our daytime tour, tickets are limited for the Avenues After Hours tour.
